Reinhard Berle, President of Kinderhilfswerk Global Care Germany (KHW Global Care) visited Tamilnadu to evaluate the Tsunami Relief and Rehabilitation work done by KHW-India. He was accompanied by J. P. Singh Asia Director KHW Global Care and Director KHW-India and J. Devaputhiran, Project Manager, KHW-India.
During his visit Reinhard Berle inaugurated the permanent houses at village Cuddalore Alikuppam in the Kancheepuram district. The local fishermen community gave the KHW team a very warm traditional welcome and expressed gratitude for the helps received initially for livelihood restoration and later for permanent housing.
The team also visited village Meiyurkuppam in the Kancheepuram district where livelihood support had been provided by KHW-India. The community acknowledged the help provided thus far and has requested for permanent housing.
Visits were also made in Tharangambadi and Vederanyam (village Serethallikadu) in the Nagapattinam districts. Dr. Ravi, General Director, FACE, facilitated the visits in this district.
Reinhard Berle expressed satisfaction and happiness regarding the work done by KHW-India. He was especially pleased with the good relationship that KHW-India and its team had developed with the various communities. He said that this was the hallmark of KHW’s work worldwide.
Reinhard Berle informed that KHW’s Tsunami Relief and Rehabilitation work was possible through support of Aktion Deutschland Hilft (ADH), Germany. He further added that KHW was exploring further possibilities to help those who had been left out.
