325 Patients Examined in Camp
Guptkashi (Rudraprayag). A free medical camp was organized at the local Government Inter College by KHW and Grahmin Samudaik Vikas Sewa Sansthan. Three hundred and twenty five patients were examined and free medicines were distributed.
The camp was inaugurated by the region's MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly), Mrs. Asha Nautiyal. She appreciated the efforts of organizing such camps in a remote area deprived of medical facilities.
In her inaugural address the MLA emphasized on the need of making health facilities available to village women. She said that due to preoccupation with domestic work women were unable to pay attention to their health. This naturally also adversely affected the children. She said that such camps would be very useful for them. She also expressed happiness that the camp had a central focus on the handicapped. She said that whereas one the one hand there were Social Service Organizations which existed merely on paper, on the other there were others who stayed away from publicity and propaganda and believed in serving at the grassroots.
Mr. R. P. Khanduri – Director Grahmin Samundaik Vikas Sewa Sansthan and KHW's Director – Mr. J. P. Singh spoke of the usefulness of such camps. Womenfolk are always very busy in their work in the jungle, fields or getting water because of which they and their children are deprived of comprehensive health care. Keeping this in mind the camp was organized with Orthopedic, Child and other Specialists to provide necessary treatment.
Orthopedic surgeon – Dr. R. K. Singh of Samvedna hospital, plastic surgeon Dr. Avinash Zuthsi of CMI and Dr. Atul Alok and their assistants examined 325 handicapped and other patients from different villages and distributed free medicines.
